Description

A vibrant, color-changing detox drink made from butterfly pea flower, lemon juice, ginger, and apple cider vinegar.


Ingredients

Scale

500 ml (2 cups) water

2 tablespoons dried butterfly pea flowers

1 teaspoon honey

1 teaspoon fresh ginger, sliced

Juice of 1 lemon

1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar with mother


Instructions

  1. Start by boiling 500 ml of water in a saucepan. If you are adding ginger, add it at this time.
  2. Once the water reaches a rolling boil, remove the saucepan from heat.
  3. Add in 2 tablespoons of dried butterfly pea flowers. Let them steep for about 10 minutes.
  4. Strain the mixture to remove the flowers if you prefer a clear drink. You may also leave them in.
  5. Stir in 1 teaspoon honey, lemon juice, and apple cider vinegar.
  6. Watch as the color changes from deep blue to purple.
  7. Serve hot immediately, or let it cool slightly and pour over ice for a chilled version.

Notes

This recipe makes 2 servings. You can adjust the honey based on taste—1/2 teaspoon per cup works great for a milder sweetness.
